Whilst there are plenty of intimate ways to pop the question, going a little over-the-top or being unique for this life changing moment won't hurt. Whether it's booking an engagement package at a hotel or planning your own trip or perhaps picking a special location to propose, it's important to get this moment right and make it memorable.

Glasgow botanic gardens, top locations to propose in Glasgow

This garden is located in the heart of the Glasgow city’s West End by the River Kelvin. Built a bit later than a lot of other botanic gardens, this place is mesmerising for it's exterior structure alone. If you're into a bit of nature but don't want to go too far from the city centre, then this is the place to pop the question!

The Mitchell Library Glasgow

Is your loving girlfriend a book-lover? if yes, then this is your perfect spot to propose! The Mitchell library is one of the most recognisable buildings in Glasgow city. Located between the city centre and the West End, the library has served the public of Glasgow – and beyond – with learning, information and cultural needs for over 100 years. The library is host to a variety of exhibitions and events throughout the year. If you prefer a little privacy, you can arrange with the library and decorate a room with fairytale lights and candles to create a romantic atmosphere surrounded by all the words of great authors.

Kelvingrove Park Glasgow

Did you know that Kelvingrove Park was one of the locations used in the filming of the series Outlander? I didn’t until I dug deeper. Although there are many Boston scenes in Outlander, not one of those was actually shot in The States. It was in fact, all shot in Bonnie Scotland. Kelvingrove Park is located in the bohemian West End of Glasgow, surrounded by the breathtaking architecture of the University of Glasgow.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

This museum is one of Scotland's most popular free attractions and features 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying an astonishing 8000 objects. Now that's a huge museum! If your loving fiance-to-be is into art and history, then this is the place for you! The museum has two lavish balcony areas - a great spot to get a glimpse of the magnificent hall below and of course the perfect spot to propose.

The Memorial Chapel at the University of Glasgow offers a peaceful and magnficent atmosphere for both worship and celebration. The chapel is one of the most picturesque locations in the Glasgow City and another great spot to get down on one knee in Glasgow.

If you're a city lover and on the hunt to get down on one knee in public in a famous place in Glasgow, then you might want to consider the Royal Exchange Square. The square is centrally situated between Buchanan Street and Queen Street - and is a landmark due to its distinguished architecture which attracts many visitors.

Clyde Arc Bridge Glasgow

The Clyde Arc, also known as the Finnieston Bridge or the 'squinty' bridge is another wonderful location and whilst you may not have privacy on this iconic bridge because it is amongst the most popular spots for couples and tourists in general, its magnificent architecture makes it a picturesque spot to pop the question.

Riverside Museum Glasgow, Top Places to Propose in Glasgow

Otherwise known as the Museum of Transport and Travel, the Riverside Museum is an award-winning museum with over 3,000 objects on display - from skateboards to locomotives, paintings to prams and cars to a Stormtrooper. The location of this museum makes it a truly romantic spot to pop the question by the infamous Tall Ship and River Clyde.

Swans, ducks and geese patrol the fringes of Strathclyde Loch: the park is one of the most popular attractions in Glasgow and a beautiful spot to pop the question, especially during the evening when the sun is about to set.
