Perth wedding photographer| Ria + Innes

Welcome back to another love story! This time, something quite different. Something I deeply adore and that is ELOPEMENTS.

Let me introduce you to Ria and Innes - a DREAM couple that wanted something meaningful for their elopement.

Ria & Innes eloped in Scotland where they chose to have a small and intimate ceremony with some of their nearest and dearest. Even though some key members of family were unable to make it, Ria knew that having us film the ceremony as well would allow those unable to make it to watch the wedding as if they never missed it.

A Scottish Wedding Tradition

Ria and Innes’ ceremony was special and meaningful. They decided to incorporate the old Scottish tradition of Hand-fasting which was a lovely addition to their ceremony. Hand-fasting, for anyone unaware of this tradition, is a marriage ritual that symbolises the unification of couples and their love for one another. During this ritual a coloured ribbon or cord is used to join the couples hands together binding them into their new chapter as one.

Following their ceremony, we ventured out into nature to capture stunning shots of the couple as they overlooked the country from, well what we’d say, a high enough hill. As they stood on top of the hill, they exchanged their personal vows.

The great thing about eloping is that it gives you the opportunity to get in the great outdoors and explore nature for what it is.

Why elope in Scotland?

Scotland, located in the northern part of the United Kingdom is popularly known for its coastal landscapes, historic towns, acres of forest and the vast countryside. One of the biggest reasons to elope in Scotland is the ease of getting married and that you can do so wherever you choose whether it’s from a mountain top to a castle or a cliff (provided that you have a registered celebrant).
